This was the first year that our school and any of our members had participated in Girls Build LA. It was a very overwhelming yet amazing experience for all of us. We all had a lot of fun working together on this project. As young women, it meant a lot to us to inspire young girls so they can grow up to be strong and believe in themselves and in other women. We taught a lot of girls but also learned a lot ourselves over the course of this year. Though we had accomplishments, there are some things that we could have done differently. We spent a lot of time planning each project that we did because we wanted them to be perfect. This made it so that we only only completed a couple of projects. To prevent this, we could have met more often or for a longer period of time to ensure that we were using the most time we could to put into this project. That way we could have held a lot more events. We could have also reached out to people outside of our community, and partnered with established organizations. Other than this, we believe that our project was a success. Now that we are more experienced, we can continue this project next year and expand it beyond our school community. We truly think that we made an impact in over 60 young girls' lives and inspired them to always believe in themselves.
